Influence
We seek to have influence in a wide variety of ways, from
briefing government agencies or key politicians on matters of
immediate concern, hosting hospitality events, and building up long
term relationships. Each year we raise the profile of the
industry at the Party Conferences.
Politicians - we have developed strong
relationships, and awareness of the marine industry's concerns and
successes, among relevant civil servants, MPs, members of the House
of Lords and MEPs.
Central Government - our lead sponsor
department is the Department for Business, Innovation and
Skills headed by Dr Vince Cable MP, and our influence within
government circles is growing all the time. We have links in
all departments that have a significant influence over our member’s
activities. Click here to find out more.
Europe - With the recent launch of ELMIF, the
new alliance of Leisure Marine Trade Organisation across Europe,
the BMF has an even greater influence over EU legislators than ever
before. Click

MP Visits
The BMF has launched its programme of matching MPs with member
companies. We arrange for you local MP to pay you a visit, see your
business in action and listen to your views and concerns. All that
is required from you is to express a wish to have a visit and we
handle the rest - drafting letters, scheduling, briefing and
following up visits with the local press.
Over the past year we have organised visits to members across
the country. And we're still looking to arrange more. With some 350
new MPs entering the House following the 2010 election, there are
still plenty of new faces to meet and inform about our
industry.

alternatively, contact cwestbrook@britishmarine.co.uk
to arrange your own visit!
