International Strategy 2011 - 2012
The BMF international team, Committee and five extra
experienced exporters met to discuss the role, services and
programme for the BMF Financial Year July 2011 to June 2012.
A document has been produced to fully explain the role of the
international department as well as demonstrate the background to
the annual programme of events; it is not possible to be at all
shows worldwide, and so the document shows how decisions were made
and how BMF is supporting and promoting ‘British Excellence’
abroad. Importantly, the committee is keen to increase the
input from and the exporting activity of members and the plan
outlines how this could happen.
There are 4 key services that the BMF offers
to reach the International objective.
1. Assist the small
companies, particularly the equipment companies to identify the
most lucrative international markets and best route to export and
to help them find and attract government export support.
2. To identify and
provide an ‘all source’ information service, focused on the key
points like relevant shows, competing products, potential buyers
and possible barriers to entry for those markets.
3. To assist companies
to exhibit to best effect depending on the size of the company,
experience in that country and product.
4. Government lobbying
via the Marine Sector Advisory Group. This group is the voice
for the marine sector – leisure and commercial sector, into
government.
