Superyacht UK Technical Seminar 2012

118 delegates came to the Superyacht UK Technical Seminar held at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show on Thursday 12th January.  Delegates were given updates on some of the major themes affecting the design and build of superyachts including the Passenger Yacht Code, MARPOL, the Large Yacht Code and the Maritime Labour Convention.

David Elson, Chair of seminar and the SYUK Technical Committee said “it was great to see the support for the event from right across the industry with designers, builders, naval architects, lawyers and more getting involved.  The day served as an excellent vehicle for the delegates to hear the latest updates on developments from experts in the subject.”

Udo Kleintz, Technical Manager for ICOMIA, said ““The Superyacht UK Technical Seminar provided a comprehensive overview on the current issues that affect the large yacht industry. By attracting a big audience including administrators and service providers, Superyacht UK delivered an excellent opportunity to meet key players in the large yacht community.”

To round off the day before the networking drinks the winner of SYUK Design Competition was announced.  This year’s winner is Daniel Humphreys, 3rd year industrial design student from Plymouth University.  Daniel’s work was selected by the design team at Design Unlimited for his creative ideas and high quality drawing skills.  Daniel will now go to the Seatec show in Italy to take part in a freehand drawing competition against 11 other Italian students.
